Great Week

Quality of life these days is measured in how much sleep we get.

Carsen's sleep pattern has stabilized and he has found that his best sleep hours are from 10:15pm until about 7:00am. We're going on the 7th straight day of 8+ hours/night of sleep for him. He seems to like his pattern and hopefully it will stick for good. We're still working on his day time nap schedule, which is almost non-existent.

More to come...

Status on the boy

Carsen has been doing really well. He went to the doctor this week and weighed in at 9 lbs, 10oz. He's picking up about one LB per week! He's even got a double chin...

He's also working into a little pattern. His bed time seems to be around 10:00 and the other day he gave us almost 7 hours sleep! His typical night is between 5-6 hours. We pack him full of food up until 10:00 and then I wrap him really tight like a burrito and give him the pacifier. Wrapping him tight requires that he can't move his arms or his legs. This seems to be the only formula to get him to sleep.

Lately, he has been refusing sleep during the day, only taking about 1-2 hours. His cranky time is between 6-8:30pm and there is nothing we can do to settle him down. On occasion, Kevin walks him around the yard, holding him like a football and sits out back to watch the sun set. Carsen likes getting outside and digs just looking at the wetlands with his dad. He's going to be a naturist.

The other day, Alex got to feed him and she found it to be a lot of fun, but challenging. It's been neat to see how she has taken a liking to her new little brother.

Cathy has been doing great with Carsen. She's been sleep deprived for the past 6 weeks, but handles it like a trooper. She has helped out more around the house, taking on most of the chores. I think she's trying out the "stay at home mom" thing.

Zero has handled Carsen's existence really well and is a good dog around him. He is careful and protective of Carsen and likes to sniff his face and pants... Although he has been good dog to Carsen, he's been a pain in the ass to us. He can't get enough attention, so he spends his time dropping his bone in our laps, eating toilet paper, carrying papers around from our garbage, leaning on Cathy and barking at people walking down the street. In fact, he gets so little attention, he practically urinates himself from excitement when anyone comes to the house, including the UPS guy!

That's it for now. Working on some new pictures for next time.
