Carsen Loves to Dance

Carsen had the experience of getting his hair cut the way his dad does. Although I don't get to sit in the cool car chair, I still get to hang out, get a shampoo and a haircut. He did very well except the itchy part. Overall, he had a good time.

Good Big Brother

Carsen has been really eating up the fact that he is a big brother. For whatever reason, he gets it that Kendall is a very fragile little girl and needs to be handled in a very gentle fashion. After a few weeks of extra crying, he seems to be ok with the concept of having someone around that needs more attention than he does. If anything, he is starting to protect the little girl...

Carsen Has a Sister!

On July 18, 2007 the O'Brien's unexpectedly welcomed our second child, Kendall Victoria. You can check out the story on Kendall's blog for specific details.

Carsen now has a sister, to whom he's adjusting quite well. At first, we kept him away from her due to the risk of infection to her, but now we are letting him get closer looks and even gentle touches every now and then. He stands next to her pack-and-play and stares at her, pointing and saying "baby". It's wonderful to watch, though he has been acting out from time to time, demanding for Mommy to hold him much more lately. He is absolutely enthralled with her every move, stopping what he is doing to look at her whenever he hears her make a noise. Though we're enjoying this time with yet another infant in the house, it will be truly wonderful to watch them interact and bond as they grow up together. We'll post pictures of the two of them soon.

Carsen's First Birthday!

Carsen enjoyed his first birthday on June 26, 2007 and had a great party to celebrate. He was overwhelmed with gifts, family and friends on Saturday June 23 at his very first birthday party. Some of his favorite things included a dump truck and talking chair from Mom and Dad, tiger phone from the Lucania's, a pool from Uncle Timmy and Aunt Melissa, and clothes galore from Uncle Chris and Auntie Sara! He had cake and played with all his friends, and had a wonderful day!

Carsen loves getting his picture taken and he is so good at posing and being a good boy. When we go to the studio, we are in and out in 15 minutes!

Carsen Shows off his New Teeth

Over the past few weeks, Carsen has grown a new set of bottom teeth. He likes using them for eating, biting his toys and anything else he can do with them!

Carsen Wants out!

Carsen has been moving all over the place now and is even scooting from one end of the room to another. Here, he decides that his nap is over and is trying to get out of his crib.

Carsen Acquires a 'Sad Face'

In light of what seems to be tragic to the boy, we find his facial expressions to be amusing, even in the worst of times! (The lights in the back are from the 12 foot tree that we picked up last weekend. It fills our family room!)

Eating Solids

Just recently, Carsen started eating foods that stick. He can't sit up completely by himself, but he manages well enough in the high chair. It's a little big for him, but comfortable enough for him to take a nap just after a big meal.

A Thanksgiving Tradition

For the past few years, Cathy and I have been making it a habit to go downtown Chicago and spend the night in the city. We hang out on Michigan Avenue on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and take in the sights, shopping and people watching. This year, the weather was great and we had a new little package with us. Carsen gave us some new reasons to be thankful.

Carsen goes swimming

It was Alex' birthday on 11/8 and we took her to the Kalahari in the dells. We found this to be a great opportunity to let him get a taste of swimming. He loves the water and really enjoyed himself.

Carsen November Update

Carsen has been making great advancements with his motor skills and is a very strong baby. He can turn over at will and has figured out that he has hands. He's even starting to hold his bottle when he eats!

First Halloween

Carsen had his first halloween and gathered lots of candy. He decided to be a rooster this year because he likes to pick up chicks.

October 3rd Update

Carsen has been growing so much lately. He has been losing hair, sucking his hand, holding his head up and smiling like crazy. He's sleeping over 10 hours every night and is adapting well to day care, which happens about 20 hours/week. Overall, he's a very happy baby and seems to be loving life.
